How Do Clear Aligners Work?

Published On: February 17, 2023By

Orthodontic treatment through systems like Invisalign® relies on a series of clear aligners, changed every few weeks.

Each aligner coaxes your teeth into straighter or more aligned positions.

Because tooth movement is gradual, you’ll notice your teeth coming into position over weeks and months.

Our dental team relies on Invisalign clear aligners in Phoenix to correct misalignment and give our patients stunning smiles!

The Invisalign Process

A consultation and exam with your dentist in Phoenix determine your candidacy for treatment. This early visit is also a great time to ask questions. Additionally, you’ll learn whether Invisalign is right for you and what to expect during and after treatment. We can also talk to you about the cost and how long you’ll be in treatment.

Your dentist takes impressions of your teeth, and we forward these results to the Invisalign lab. The lab fabricates your aligners and sends them back to our dental office. When you come to pick them up, a team member will show you how to wear them.

From there, you follow the instructions provided by your dentist. Typically, you’ll change your aligners every two weeks and wear them for approximately 22 hours daily. As you move through your supply, you’ll notice your teeth moving into position.

After treatment, which can last for months or as long as two years, we provide you with a retainer to maintain your new smile.
